YSRC to mobilise nationwide support against State division

November 19, 2013 03:13 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 07:59 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

The YSR Congress has resolved to mobilise the support of parties such as Trinamool Congress and Samajwadi Party against the Congress decision to divide Andhra Pradesh for “short term selfish political goals”.

YSRC president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy addressed an extended meeting of the party leaders convened here on Monday to discuss the latest developments at the national level and the party’s preparedness in the event of early polls. Interestingly, two important leaders – Y.S. Sharmila and Y.V. Subba Reddy -- were not present at the meeting which was presided over by honorary president Y.S. Vijayamma.

Briefing reporters later, Konathala Ramakrishna and Bajireddy Goverdhan said the party had decided to mobilise support from across the political spectrum against division of Andhra Pradesh. “A Damocles’ sword is hanging over our heads and Article 3 is being used for perpetrating the conspiracy. The Congress can repeat this in any State for political gains,” Mr. Ramakrishna said.

Jagan’s tour

He said Mr. Jagan had decided to undertake a tour across the country after seeking the court’s permission to explain the implication of the division and urge political parties to defeat the Telangana Bill when it comes up in Parliament during the winter session.
