Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday urged the people to vote against the Congress, the YSR Congress and the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in the ensuing elections to “save the State and the country from corruption.”
Addressing a public meeting at Shantipuram mandal headquarters as part of his two-day visit to his Kuppam constituency, Mr Naidu alleged that the three parties had deliberately raked up the issue of the State’s bifurcation to annihilate the TDP.
“The Congress could not digest the sweeping victory of the TDP in the recent local bodies' elections. The issue of Telangana is being deliberately put forward by the Congress between the second and third phase of the local bodies' polls,” he said.
The TDP supremo deplored that the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, had in 2008 responded positively to the TDP's plea for equal justice, but later broke his promise.
Mr. Naidu lambasted the YSRC chief,. Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, calling him a cunning person, and said that that the latter had touched the feet of Sonia Gandhi seeking bail and colluded with the Congress.
He said that the TDP would stick to its stand of equal justice for both Seemandhra and Telangana, and termed his role that of a "father."
Mr. Naidu ridiculed the criticism of Mr. Jagan against his letter, and asked him to read it for himself.
"My letter is for equal justice to the two regions," he said, and asked the gathering: “Is there anything wrong in my letter?” drawing instant support from the gathering.
Training his guns on Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, Mr. Naidu alleged that the latter met Sonia Gandhi along with T leaders in 1999 for political gain. Referring to the proposed Samaikyandra stir launch of Mr. Jagan Reddy from his Kuppam constituency, Mr. Naidu asked the people to be cautious about his “vile designs” to cheat the public and to save himself from criminal cases.
The TDP chief repeatedly referred to the "majority" factor. "In spite of my absence during the elections, you (Kuppam people) have been electing me with a thumping majority. This time, the Congress and the YSRC should lose their deposits," he said, adding, "you all know... mine is dharma poratam, nyaya poratam and avineethi vyathireka poratam. The poor people of Kuppam are my inspiration."
Mr Naidu extensively spoke about the TDP's role in development of the State and Hyderabad. “Even Prime Minister Manmohan Singh referred to the development of Hyderabad with the US President,” he said.
He came down heavily on the Congress for completely ruining the State and its administration during the nine-year rule.
