YSR Congress Party central committee member and local legislator Bhumana Karunakar Reddy was at it again!
After polishing shoes as a cobbler, sawing timber as a carpenter, making pots as a potter, pulling a cycle rickshaw, driving a herd of buffaloes on the highway and clearing garbage in the vegetable market, he donned the ‘avatar’ of a porter to carry the baggage of passengers at the Tirupati railway station on Saturday.
As part of his unending spree of novel protests for the cause of Samaikyandhra that has tickled the funny bone every now and then, the MLA surfaced at the station in a bright red shirt, typical of a porter. He sprang a surprise on fellow porters, while some passengers were taken aback by his offer to carry their suitcases on his head. He brought them up to the entrance before ending his ‘role’.
Woes in store for Seemandhra people
Speaking to the waiting media personnel later, he pointed out that the novel protests undertaken by him were to highlight the woes in store for Seemandhra residents post-bifurcation. “If Telangana is accorded statehood, the region this side of the divide will be devoid of irrigation water, jobs and all sources of livelihood,” he said. The roles of cobbler, carpenter, potter, sanitary worker and finally porter donned by him are to present the loss of vocation in the region. He reiterated his party’s resolve to continue the fight against the Congress Working Committee’s (CWC) decision to bifurcate the State.
