Workshop on disaster risk reduction on Sept. 23

The Central Government-UNDP Disaster Management project, Vijayawada, is conducting a workshop on “Current management practices of Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation,” at the Sub-Collector’s Officer here on September 23 from 9.30 a.m. onwards.

Krishna District Collector M. Raghunandana Rao, senior district officers, city officers and selected NGOs from the city are expected to participate in the programme. During the workshop, aspects pertaining to deployment of employees to handle emergency, knowledge and understanding levels on the concepts and training needs on DRR and CCA for district and city-based officers would be discussed.

As part of the project implementation, the UNDP, New Delhi, has assigned the task of developing strategy and training of city and district officers to the district administration. The facilitating agency will conduct three workshops in Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad and then evolve strategy and action plan for capacity building to officers on DRR & CCA, said a press release.
