Of the total revenue, Rs. 1,982 crore was from freight and Rs. 497 crore from the commuters, according to K. Venugopala Rao, Additional Divisional Railway Manager.
“There is a 13 per cent increase in the revenue earnings, as compared to the corresponding period of the last fiscal,” Mr. Rao said while addressing a press conference here on Thursday.
Stating that the Indian Railways had come out with several commuter-friendly initiatives, he said that the all India helpline ‘138’ was now functional in Vijayawada division too.
“A security helpline has also been launched recently. Those in distress can dial 182 to get immediate help from railway police during travel,” he said.
