Two Maoists arrested

The Etapaka police of the East Godavari district on Tuesday arrested two Maoists from Jaggaram hamlet of Etapaka mandal and registered cases against them. The arrested were: Kaluma Lakuma alias Ravi, 26, member of the CPI (Maoist) Party’s Sabari dalam and his associate Kaluma Raja, 30, both natives of Jaggaram hamlet.

Superintendent of Police M. Ravi Prakash said that both the Maoists had criminal history and were arrested by the police in the past.

He said that Ravi joined the Sabari dalam in 2009 and was involved in offences such as murder of Kommanapalli village sarpanch.

Raja joined the dalam in 2009.
