Two persons were killed and 15 others injured in a trail of destructive road accidents on Chilakaluripet-Vijayawada NH-5 at Takkellapadu which took place in the early hours of Sunday.

Pedakakani Station House Officer Sesha Rao said that one of the persons who died was travelling from Bangalore to Visakhapatnam.

The chain of road accidents took place within seconds leaving the two roads on the highway out of bounds for few hours. Police extricated the bodies with the help of a crane.

Mr. Sesha Rao said that the chain of mishaps started with a lorry headed towards Vijayawada crashed into a stationery lorry at Auto Nagar. A cleaner was killed on the spot.

Under the impact of the crash, the two lorries veered to opposite directions. A spare tyre of one lorry rolled on the road. A car coming from behind stepped on the tyre, crashed into the divider and jumped on to the road meant for vehicles coming in the opposite direction. A lorry coming towards Chilakaluripet crashed into the car killing the driver on the spot. Ten devotees who were returning from Bhadrachalam were also injured in the mishap.
