Trimex Sands Private Limited employees took out a rally in Srikakulam on Thursday urging the government to allow the company to function as usual since over 3,000 persons depend on the organisation for their livelihood.
The company suspended its operations after the State government slapped notices on the organisation asking it to pay royalty in accordance with quantity of mining and asked to stop mining activity in disputed land. The company allegedly took up mining activity in 389 acres of forest land. Against this background, the company suspended services of contract employees and stopped payment of salaries to the regular employees.
The rally, which started at Old Bus Stand area, culminated at 7Road junction. As many as 650 employees participated in the agitation.
They alleged that the government was misled by the ‘false’ complaints lodged by the people who had vested interests. They said only Trimex Sands was paying taxes promptly helping the exchequer to generate huge income through beach sand mining activity.
