APCC president N. Raghuveera Reddy has said the TDP should prove its sincerity in opposing the BJP.
Responding to a query on the possible tie-up with the TDP in the 2019 elections, Mr. Reddy told the media here on Saturday that Congress president Rahul Gandhi had made it clear that the party was ready to align with those who opposed the BJP.
He, however, reiterated that the Congress would contest the elections in A.P. on its own.
The TDP had served its ties with the BJP for the third time. It, however, had taken a BJP functionary form Maharashtra on the TTD Board, he said.
Earlier, Mr. Reddy participated in the ‘Rana Sankharavam’ rally organised by the DCC at the Kotagummam centre against the NDA’s four-year rule. Addressing the party workers, he said the Prime Minister failed to fulfil the promises made before the 2014 elections.
The poor and the middle class people were looted by the Centre by increasing the prices of fuel indiscriminately in last four years, he alleged. In the run-up to the 2014 elections, Mr. Modi had promised to deposit ₹15 lakh in the bank accounts of every person, but failed to deposit even ₹15, Mr. Reddy said. On the other hand, the common man was subjected to harassment in the name of GST, he added.
He lamented that sexual assaults on girls were increasing by the day in the country, and alleged that BJP leaders were involved in such shameful acts.
Observing that SC/STs and minorities were living as second-grade citizens in the country, he expressed apprehension over the Centre’s move to review the Constitution.
Stating that the countdown for the Modi government had begun, he said the Karnataka elections were only the beginning of its fall.
Rajya Sabha member J.D. Seelam, East Godavari DCC president Pantam Nanaji, former MLC Gidugu Rudraraju and city Congress president N.V. Srinivas were present.
