District Minister Bojjala Gopalakrishna Reddy on Wednesday launched the ‘Chandranna Sanchara Chikitsa’ (Mobile medical unit) at Headquarters General Hospital here, and reiterated the commitment of Chandrababu Naidu government to extend quality medical and health care to people of rural areas.
Speaking at a programme arranged to launch the scheme on the hospital premises, the Minister said that the vital areas of the mobile medical unit included general medical prescription for the patients in villages; rotavirus vaccine, CT Scan and inactivated polio vaccine.
Advanced equipment
He said that advanced equipment would be available at the mobile units, including scanning, ECG and a team of senior medical officers.
Mr Gopalakrishna Reddy instructed medical and paramedical staff of all community health centres and sub-centres attached them in the district to strive for modernising their buildings and introducing advanced equipment.
He said that as many as 24 mobile medical units would be functional in the district.
District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) K. Koteswari said that there were 8,400 children below one year in the district, and there was a requirement of 3.1 lakh doses of rotavirus vaccine. She said that the target for 2016-17 would be achieved much before the stipulated period.
Zilla Parishad chairperson Geervani, Chittoor in-charge Mayor R. Subramanyam, District Immunisation Officer T. Surekha were present.
