Sri Rama Navami festivities commenced on a grand note with the official ‘Ankurarpanam’ by Vedic priests at the Sri Kodandarama Swamy temple at Vontimitta in Kadapa district on Friday. This is in accordance with the government’s policy.
‘Dhwajarohanam’ is scheduled for March 28, ‘Hanumatseva’ on March 31 night, ‘Mohiniseva’ and ‘Garudaseva’ on April 1 night and ‘Sri Rama Seetha Devi Kalyanotsavam’ will be performed on a 10-acre Kalyana Vedika being readied at the southern end of the temple on April 2 night, before the commencement of ‘Chandra Grahana Soola” in accordance with ‘Pancharatra Agamanam’. ‘Rathotsavam’ will be held on April 3. Deputy Chief Minister K.E. Krishnamurthy will present silk clothes and ‘Mutyala Thalambralu’ to the presiding deities on behalf of the government on March 28.
The presiding deities will be decorated in ‘Venugana Alamkaram’ on March 29, ‘Vatapatrasai Alamkaram’ on March 30, ‘Navaneetha Krishna Alamkaram’ on March 31, ‘Siva Dhanurbhanga Alamkaram’ on April 2 and ‘Kaleeya Mardhana Alamkaram’ on March 4. The idols will be placed on Seshavahanam on March 28, Hamsavahanam on March 29, Simhavahanam on March 30, Gajavahanam on April 2 and Aswavahanam on April 4. The Brahmotsavams will end with ‘Dhwajavarohanam’, ‘Pushpayagam’ and ‘Ekantha Seva’ on April 6.
