Field-level verification for determining of eligibility of social security pensions will be undertaken in East Godavari district from September 19 to 21, according to District Collector Neetu Prasad.
At a review meeting in Kakinada on Tuesday, she said that according to the government guidelines, 100 per cent Aadhaar authenticated disbursement of pensions would be done from October 2.
To eliminate the fake beneficiaries, it was proposed to launch a verification campaign in every Gram Panchayat, Municipal Ward through the committees constituted for this purpose.
The committees would verify the pensioners’ details thoroughly, write the findings in the respective box, sign it and hand over them to the MPDO Commissioner. The mandal or municipal committees would receive the appeals, if any, from the pensioners identified as ineligible and dispose the cases on merits, scrutinise new applications and the recommended applications would be uploaded for their e-login.
Ms. Neetu Prasad also said that that the fundamental criterion for eligibility for a pension was BPL status according to the guidelines.
