The employees, students and traders continued their pro-Samaikyandhra Pradesh protests for the 21st day on Monday, even as the police arrested some activists when they tried to stall the Eamcet counselling at two centres here.

The APNGOs’ Nellore district unit and the AP Revenue Employees’ Association also went ahead with their agitation with support coming from the district level and gazetted officers. Several top revenue officials took part in the rally taken out from Atmakur bus stand to the District Collectorate during the day.

Additional Joint Collector Ch. Penchala Reddy, District Revenue Officer B. Rami Reddy and other officials took part in the rally. They spoke in favour of the united State going by the strong sentiments being expressed all over Seemandhra region.

Mild tension prevailed at the Eamcet counselling centres located at the Polytechnic College at Venkateswarapuram and at Dargamitta, Nellore, as the Samaikyandhra activists went there to stall the counselling process. The police took tough measures and took into custody the agitators, who were later released.

At Dargamitta centre, the counselling centre was found locked with the employees refusing to take part in the certificates’ verification process for the candidates. The District Collector and the Superintendent of Police held discussions with the employees, asking them to start the counselling process.

The members of the Vikrama Simhapuri Employees’ JAC continued their relay hunger strike at the VRC Centre.
