Chief Minister-designate K. Chandrasekhar Rao has demanded that the sprawling campus housing the present Secretariat be made available for the Telangana government and that separate buildings be identified elsewhere for the functioning of the Andhra Pradesh government.
Faulting the manner in which the land space in the Secretariat and its buildings were being divided between the two governments, Mr. Rao asked officials at a high-level meeting on Friday to relocate the Secretariat of the Andhra Pradesh government to avoid a flare-up of emotions between staff of both governments which could lead to dislocation of work.
The meeting took place after a PowerPoint presentation was made to Mr. Rao by Chief Secretary P.K. Mohanty on the processes taken up in connection with the bifurcation of the composite State. Mr. Rao, who is Telangana Rashtra Samithi president, made his point in the context of resentment among a section of employees of the Secretariat over false declaration by their colleagues to retain employment in Telangana, sources said.
They said Mr. Rao had pointed out the availability of a number of buildings in the city that could be used to house offices of the Andhra Pradesh government. He reasoned that there could be a possibility of friction between employees if the existing office buildings were shared by the two governments.
