Andhra Pradesh government will begin the auctioning of red sanders by October – end. Forest Minister B.Gopalakrishna Reddy said here on Monday that notwithstanding the efforts by some vested interests to stall the auction process, government would go ahead and conduct the auction and complete it by November first week.

The earlier schedule of auctions were slated from October 10 to 17 and several international bidders evinced interest.

The auction process was postponed following a petition filed in the Green Tribunal and later government got relief from the High Court.

Meanwhile Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu believed to have categorically told the Forest Department officials that none involved in smuggling of red sanders should be spared, however, influential they might be. He said cases should be registered against those conniving with smugglers under the PD Act.
