Rajeesh in judicial custody

A. Rajeesh, suspected Maoist who was arrested on Sunday, was produced before the Payyoli Munsiff Magistrate Court in the district on Monday.

Magistrate M.C. Antony remanded him in judicial custody for 14 days. A police team led by Vadakara Deputy Superintendent of Police M. Pradeepkumar and Circle Inspector K.C. Subash arrested Rajeesh for allegedly providing facilities, including conveyance and accommodation, to Anoop Mathew, who was arrested along with CPI(Maoist) leader R. Roopesh and others. The Payyoli police arrested Rajeesh on the basis of the statement of Anoop Mathew. Pamphlets and other books were recovered from his house.
