Parents of a newborn who died during the delivery staged a protest at the Government Maternity Hospital here on Tuesday, alleging negligence of the doctors.

According to the information, Shiva Shankar, hailing from Venkatagiri of Nellore district, admitted his wife Shyamala at the hospital three days ago. She was supposed to undergo a caesarean. However, doctors after examining her decided to perform a normal delivery. However, the baby died.

Denying to charge, the authorities said that it was a critical case and they could not save the baby owing to several complications.
