Paper millers warned against bypassing AMC

Taking a serious view of the alleged breach of the agreement struck between Subabul and Eucalyptus farmers and paper mill managements, State Marketing Joint Director K. Srinivasa Rao on Saturday made it clear that under no condition, Agricultural Market Committees should be bypassed; and the ryots should be paid the price what the millers had agreed upon during the pact.

Agreement

Mr. Rao reviewed the implementation of the agreement reached at the behest of District Collector G.S.R.K.R. Vijaya Kumar on July 4.

During the meeting, farmers’ representatives led by Andhra Pradesh Rythu Sangam District secretary D. Gopinath complained that the ryots were being denied Rs. 700 per tonne with the paper mills preferring to source the logs through middlemen, instead of purchasing the same from AMC authorised buying points.

Mr. Rao said: “All payments will be made only through the AMC by online transfers and the logs purchased outside the AMCs network will be seized.”

Marketing Assistant Director Sd. Rafi Ahamad said that social forestry planters would be provided with identity cards soon.
