‘No going back on padayatra’

“The government is threatening to file bind-over cases against the Kapu youth if they participate in the ‘Chlo Amaravati’ padayatra proposed to be undertaken from July 26,” Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham alleged on Tuesday.

In an open letter, Mr. Padmanabham appealed to the members of the community to reach Kirlampudi for the launch of the padayatra, and said no Kapu would go back despite the crackdown by the police.

“The police are counselling the Kapu youth not to participate in the yatra. The police should instead counsel sand, liquor, granite, and other mafia leaders in the TDP,” he said.

“We are fighting for the fulfilment of the promise made by the CM. But the government is targeting us without reason,” he said.

“What is wrong in taking out a padayatra for a genuine and long-pending demand?” he asked.

He called upon the Kapus to prepare themselves to face police action in their fight for justice.
