Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas on Tuesday made it clear that no dengue deaths were reported in Prakasam district.

Talking to reporters after reviewing the health situation with Collector V. Vinay Chand and other officials concerned, including District Medical and Health Officer J. Yasmin, he said only fever cases were reported across the district. They were promptly provided treatment, he said, adding in some cases deaths had occurred due to heart ailments. “ANMs are actively campaigning at the grass-roots level on the preventive steps with focus on improving sanitation in villages,” he explained, adding that the Chandranna mobile medical units were equipped with adequate medicines for treating dengue and other diseases.

Special ward

A five-bedded ward had been created in every Community Health Centre and a special ward at the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) here to treat exclusively any dengue cases, he said, adding that the Collector was instructed to immediately make alternative arrangements to overcome the water problem in RIMS.

Social service activities including medical camps would be organised in all hospitals and educational institutions across the State from September 17, the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi till October 2, the Gandhi Jayanthi, he added.
