Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister-designate N. Chandrababu Naidu unveiled his development plans before a team of senior State government officials led by Chief Secretary P.K. Mohanty, who called on him at his residence here on Friday.
The CM-designate is stated to have explained to the senior officials his vision to develop Seemandhra on the lines of Singapore by decentralising development, as promised during the election campaign. He is against the growth model of united AP which was restricted to only Hyderabad and its surrounding areas.
Mr. Naidu is learnt to have asked the officials to prepare reports on the requirements of the residuary State of Andhra Pradesh and said he would pursue the issue of getting funds/financial assistance from the Centre.
The officials explained to Mr. Naidu the ongoing process of bifurcation of employees, assets and liabilities between AP and Telangana. They made a power-point presentation detailing the arrangements being made for the functioning of the Secretariat in Andhra Pradesh.
Mr. Naidu was apprised of department-wise allocation of space in different blocks already allotted to AP, including the Chief Minister’s office in ‘H’ block. He is understood to have told the officials that he would divide his time between Hyderabad and the camp office to be set up in Seemandhra. Though the surroundings of Guntur are being tipped to have the camp office, the TDP leadership would take a decision only after Mr. Naidu’s oath-taking ceremony, party sources said.
The officials presented reports on the progress of bifurcation being implemented by 23 committees and sub-committees set up by the Central government for the purpose. The meeting lasted for about two hours.
