He was touted as a tech-savvy politician and described aptly as ‘CEO of the State’ by captains of the industry. True to the claims, Nara Chandrababu Naidu has already drawn up ambitious plans for putting the development process in the residuary Andhra Pradesh on a fast-track mode.
An astute politician, Mr. Naidu has been successful in effectively communicating his “welfare State” concept to the masses as is evident from the party’s comfortable victories over its rivals. It was not an easy task for Mr. Naidu to get over the “hi-tech image” that placed him alongside the likes of Bill Gates. But the TDP president managed to do so, thanks to the sustained efforts he made over the last few years to project himself as a welfare-oriented politician and donned farmer-friendly avatar to some extent.
Mr. Naidu is confident that his mix of welfare and development schemes comprising sops like loan waiver for farmers and DWCRA women along with the plans to attract investments is practicable. The TDP president successfully leveraged his marketing skills, displayed in the past to market Andhra Pradesh, in convincing people about the “historic necessity” to bring the TDP back to power.
“Development has to start from scratch in Seemandhra, a new State which is left to fend for itself without adequate finances or a capital. People trusted the TDP which has the track record of achieving development on par with the major States in the country,” he said.
Mr. Naidu is betting big on the assistance the new State will secure from the Central government.
