Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu resumed his ‘Vastunna Meekosam’ padayatra from the outskirts of Paritala in Krishna district against doctors’ advice on Thursday, after a four-day break.
The Opposition leader was advised a week’s rest by a team of doctors to allow the sores on his leg to heal, but on Thursday, chose to begin his padayatra.
However, during the walk he looked uncomfortable and was even unable to get down from the median of the National Highway No.9/65, and had to be helped by party cadre to reach the temple main gate across the road.
Beginning his padayatra two hours behind schedule at 5.30 p.m. he walked on to the NH and had a darshan of Anjaneyaswamy from outside the temple and interacted with students of MVR College of Engineering. He asked them to come into politics and promised to infuse new blood into his party by reserving 33 per cent of party tickets for the youth.
“Defeat the inefficient government,” was his message to them. He also promised reservation for the poor among the forward classes. He later addressed a public meeting at Moolapadu village.
Among those who accompanied him were Kesineni Srinivas (Nani), TDP Vijayawada Urban unit president Vallabhaneni Vamsi, district unit president Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, and other partly leaders Nagul Meera, P. Anuradha, Crushers Owners’ Association president Jagan, and former VGMTUDA chairman T. Premnath.
