Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham has announced the route map for his proposed padayatra to Amaravati from Kirlampudi from July 26.

Addressing the media at his residence in Kirlampudi on Monday, Mr. Padmanabham said the padayatra would cover 73 villages in four districts.

Starting from Kirlampudi, the padayatra will pass through Veeravaram and Jaggampeta and reach Rajamahendravaram by night, covering 22 villages. The padayatra will enter West Godavari district in Tanuku.

“The route map covering 26 villages in West Godavari will be finalised shortly,” he said. Mr. Padmanabham said the padayatra would cover 19 villages in Krishna district after entering it at Kalidindi. In Guntur district, the padayatra will enter Seethanagaram and reach Velagapudi, covering six villages.

Mr. Padmanabham, however, did not announce the exact date and time of the padayatra.

Referring to the row over permission for the padayatra, Mr. Padmanabham asked whether permission was being accorded for all padayatras and agitations in the State.

In a bid to gain political mileage, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu would declare reservation for Kapus before the 2019 elections, Mr. Padmanabham said, adding that until then Mr. Naidu would keep the issue on the back-burner.
