Measuring over six foot, Gali Muddukrishnama Naidu was a ‘towering political personality’ literally too.

Known among his followers simply as ‘Muddu Anna’, is remembered for all noble qualities viz., easy access, plain speaking, cogent communication and his ability to take even political rivals into confidence.

The six-time-MLA and two-time cabinet minister, who held the Forest and Education portfolios, is a household name in the Puttur and Nagari areas of Chittoor district. He is known to remember and call every local politician by his first name and attend all domestic functions without fail. He became famous for throwing the doors of his house open to his constituents and giving them a patient hearing.

Hailing from Venkatramapuram village in Ramachandrapuram mandal, 15 km from the temple city of Tirupati, Mr. Naidu joined as a junior lecturer in Pedanandipadu of Guntur district. Though he thought of settling down in the field of education, destiny had other plans, Muddu quit his profession returned to his home district to take the political plunge under TDP’s flag.

Muddu was widely expected in the political circles either to don the mantle at the TTD trust board or get a cabinet position, but his sudden demise shut the door on those options.
