Minister’s gunman dies as pistol misfires

B. Chandrasekhar Reddy, 44, an Armed Reserve constable serving as gunman to Marketing Minister C. Adinarayana Reddy, was killed when his firearm allegedly misfired at his house in Ravindranagar in Kadapa town on Thursday.

While he was cleaning his pistol, a bullet reportedly pierced his chest and he collapsed. He was rushed to the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead, according to the police. Chandrasekhar Reddy, who had been working as Mr. Adinarayana Reddy’s gunman for the last three years, returned to Kadapa on Thursday after dropping the Minister at Bengaluru, the police added. A native of Ambavaram in Vallur mandal of Kamalapuram constituency, Chandrasekhar Reddy is survived by wife and two sons. Kadapa SP Attada Babujee visited RIMS hospital and paid homage to the constable. He assured the constable’s wife that the department would assist the family and stand by it. A case was registered and inquiry was in progress into the death, he added.
