Revenue Minister N. Raghuveera Reddy walked out of the Revenue Sadassu that was held at Subbaigudem village, in Krishna district on Wednesday.
The Minister, who arrived two hours behind schedule, walked out saying the Revenue Sadassu was “not being held in the proper spirit”. He began the meeting by reviewing the Action Taken Report (ATR).
One land owner said that he wanted his pattadar passbook to be updated but nothing had been done so far. The ATR, however, said that the passbook was updated.
Irked by the discrepancy in the ATR, he asked the officers how many representations had been received in the sadassu since morning.
The Tahsildhar said none were collected as petitioners were keen on giving representations to the Minister directly. He said this was not the way the meeting should be held and described how he conducted the Revenue Sadassu at Kodad village in Nalgonda district earlier in the day. “Petitions should be collected from 10 a.m. and then reviewed.” Mr. Reddy asked the officials to conduct the meeting as he watched for a few minutes.
Meanwhile, the loudspeaker stopped working throwing the meeting into further chaos. The Minister, who appeared vexed, told the officials to conduct the meeting on their own, got up and left. Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal, the officials followed the Minister out and came back.
District Collector Buddha Prakash M. Jyoti told The Hindu that there were lapses on the part of the officials and action would be taken against those responsible. Mr. Rajagopal said the meeting stood cancelled and would be held again in a befitting manner.
