Congress government has lost people’s faith, he says

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should speak or make a statement on the coal scam and not make former Law Minister Ashwini Kumar a scapegoat, said CPI(M) Central Committee member Tammineni Veerabhadram.

He took objection to former CPI party secretary A.B. Bardhan’s remarks on Telangana and said the CPI(M) was ready for a discussion on the policies and ideology. Speaking at a public meeting organised here on Sunday to mark the 28 death anniversary of veteran communist leader Putchalapalli Sundarayya during the Centenary Celebrations year at Lenin Centre, he observed that Sundarayya did his best to promote Marxist and Leninist ideology.

He hit hard at the Congress Government at the Centre and in the State saying they were mired in controversies and scams losing people’s faith.

Third front

“Just dismissing Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal and Law Minister Ashwini Kumar does not put things straight, it was only eye-wash, they have meddled with the investigation process and this time the Union ministers have been used as shield for the Prime Minister,” Mr. Veerabhadram said. There was no possibility of joining a third front at the Centre in 2014 elections with Samajwadi, AIDMK and TDP being part of it as they support the economic policies followed by BJP and Congress, he observed. “We may consider outside support if anti-BJP and anti-Congress forces are in a position to form Government, but will not have pre-poll tie-up,” he added.

Adjustments

The CPI(M) may make some adjustments at the individual State level depending on the local needs, but in Andhra Pradesh, the party had not yet decided weather to go with TDP or other parties in the coming local body polls or the 2014 elections.

Remembering Putchalapalli Sundarayya’s services to the Communist movement and his association with Krishna district, party city secretary said that it continued to agitate against all the anti-people policies of the State Government and expose it on lapses in power, irrigation water supply or amenities in urban and rural areas.

Mr. Babu Rao and other Communist Party of India (Marxist) leaders paid floral tributes to Sundarayya at Kalaniketan Centre on Besant Road.
