In a whirlwind tour of Bengaluru aimed at attracting investments on Thursday, Information Technology (IT) Minister Nara Lokesh interacted with top brass of leading IT, electric and electronic manufacturing companies.
Mr. Lokesh met, among others, Tech Mahindra CEO Ravichandran, ANSR CEO Lalith Ahuja, Panasonic India Head (Energy Systems) Atul Arya, e-Mudhra Chairman V. Srinivasan, Juniper Network India MD Dinesh Varma, Terminal Circuits CEO Sankar Reddy and National Public School Chairman Gopalakrishnan.
Mr. Lokesh told them the State government was contemplating announcing an electric vehicles (EV) policy to attract manufacturing companies. Smart charging systems and stations were required. He outlined government policies and plans for electronic manufacturing companies and adopting the cluster model development approach. The government had launched the International Institute of Digital Technologies to impart training in new technologies in IT to students, he said.
Blockchain tech
Stating that better services could be provided to people with blockchain technologies, the Minister suggested developing a technology which could help the people in availing themselves of all government services through mobile phone.
Tech Mahindra representatives told him that it was expanding its operations in Visakhapatnam, and also an open Internet of Things (IOT) School there.
Panasonic India representatives said they had plans to set up satellite centres in AP. A proposal to set up one such centre in Visakhapatnam was under examination, they said.
Stating that the government had set a target of providing one lakh IT jobs before 2019, the Minister urged Mr. Ravichandran to extend cooperation to the State government. Mr. Ahuja told the Minister that a global in-house centre would be developed in Visakhapatnam for new technologies and start-ups.
Saying Panasonic was ready to start charging stations in AP, its representatives assured the Minister that they would escalate the proposal to their higher ups in Japan.
Mr. Lokesh said the State government would extend all possible help to the NPS in setting up branches in Visakhaptam and Tirupati.
