Communist Party of India (M) on Tuesday alleged that the State government was misleading people of Kovvada and other villages with false promises to complete land acquisition as early as possible for the construction of nuclear thermal plant.

The party leaders criticised Telugu Desam Party for changing its stand over the project though it opposed the project when it was in opposition. Addressing a media conference at Ranasthalm in the district, CPI (M) leaders Chowdary Tejeswara Rao and K. Srinivas said Left parties would take up massive agitation opposing the land acquisition process in the affected areas of Ranasthalm district. “The government has not yet come out with environmental assessment report over the Kovvada project. It cannot move further without following the procedure,” said Bhaviri Krishna Murthy.
