It is believed that the APCC chief may be asked to make way for a new leader
Rajya Sabha member K. Chiranjeevi has been sounded out by the high command that he may be entrusted higher responsibilities in the coming days even as the AICC has turned its attention to set the party affairs on track.
Mr. Chiranjeevi appeared pleased after his 15-minute meeting with AICC president Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi on Thursday. He was also tipped by a senior AICC leader that the party was actively considering utilising his services in a better manner.
The possibility of Mr. Chiranjeevi, a Kapu leader, being made the APCC chief, in the event of the incumbent Botcha Satyanarayana — who is also in Delhi to discuss party affairs — being shown the door, is not ruled out. Mr. Chiranjeevi himself had asserted on Tuesday that he would be more than happy to serve the party and government in any capacity.
It is believed that the APCC chief may be asked to make way for a new leader, if the high command decides to effect changes in the government and party set-up. He is also in Delhi now to discuss party affairs. There was hectic political activity in New Delhi since Thursday afternoon after Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy landed there. Congress leaders said the high command was taking a close look at the political developments in Andhra Pradesh.
