A day after the relaunch of the Vijayawada- Kadapa flight, the Vijayawada International Airport on Friday witnessed the launch of 10 direct services of IndiGo from the city to Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Chennai.

Vijayawada is IndiGo’s 50th destination.

Airport director G. Madhusudhana Rao, along with representatives of IndiGo, gave away boarding passes to the passengers of the first flight leaving for Bengaluru in the morning.

A milestone

Earlier, the aircraft, on arrival from Hyderabad, received a traditional water salute on the runway.

Speaking to reporters, Mr. Madhusudhana Rao said IndiGo would operate 10 services between Vijayawada and Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Chennai daily.

“On the whole, the airport will be handling 53 services per day. The passenger traffic will also increase hereafter. For the first time, we have crossed the half-century mark in terms of services,” he said.

IndiGo’s five daily non-stop services include three to Hyderabad and one each to Bengaluru and Chennai.
