Immediate job opportunities available for diploma holders in Srikakulam district

Many youngsters are keen to pursue polytechnic diploma courses, thanks to huge and immediate job opportunities for them in several industries located in Srikakulam and other places. The demand for polytechnic courses goes up every year with the drop in demand for engineering courses.

Practical and direct experience in various courses such as civil, mechanical, electronics, computer courses are helping students to get the required knowledge at the early age. Their confidence levels are also high when they attend campus interviews.

Moreover, they can straightaway join engineering courses from second year through lateral entry.

Nominal fees, stipend, fee reimbursement, hostel facility have become added advantages for the candidates. Many parents who can’t afford corporate education are sending their children for polytechnic diploma courses. The students who can get below 5,000 rank can secure admission in reputed institutions at nominal fees, according to experts. However, the private colleges collect up to Rs.25,000 per admission.

They also collect hostel fees separately.

As many as 60,000 students who passed Class X are expected to write POLYCET-2016 on April 27 in the State.

So far 4,000 students applied for the entrance examination in Srikakulam alone and it may go up to 6,000 as candidates can submit their applications till April 12, the last day for submission.

Wide publicity

Principal of Srikakulam Government Polytechnic College V.S. Dutt and Chief Coordinator for Polycet-2016 Major K. Sivakumar have been giving wide publicity over the importance of the courses, colleges and other details through pamphlets and wall posters. “We want to create awareness among the parents so that they will know the importance of the courses since they want to ensure employability for their children,” they said.

Job notifications

“Many industries are specifically issuing job notifications to recruit only polytechnic diploma holders. It helps diploma holders to get jobs at a young age,” they added.

According to them, as many as 2,400 seats are available in five government and seven private polytechnic colleges in the district. Apart from regular courses, the government college offers Diploma in Commercial and Computer Practice.

The students who are not interested in mathematics and sciences can take up this course and can joint second year of conventional degree after passing the course.
