HC notice to YSRCP MLAs in Cabinet

Published - July 19, 2017 01:01 am IST - Hyderabad

A Division Bench of the Hyderabad High Court on Tuesday ordered issuance of notices to four Ministers to answer the issues raised in writ petition complaining that such MLAs who defected cannot be given Cabinet berths.

The Bench compromising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganthan and Justice T. Rajini was dealing with a PIL filed by T. Shivaprasad Reddy.

He contended that Akhila Priya, Amarnath Reddy, Sujaya Krishna Ranga Rao and Adinrayana Reddy were elected as MLAs on YSRCP ticket.

He lamented that not only was it violation of law but also mockery of basic democratic principles. He requested the court to issue writ of quo warranto to remove them from post of ministers.
