A girl from a remote village in Warangal district Gaddi Venkata Laxmi who was missing for the past eight years was reunited with her family due to the efforts of Crime Investigation Department (CID). She was 11 years old when she went missing.

A CID release stated that Venkata Laxmi was traced in the protective custody of Nari Samrakshan Gruh (NSG) at Surat in Gujarat which passed on her sketchy details to the CID. Working on them, the CID detected her mother and other relatives at Lamaram village in Kothaguda mandal of Warangal district. A police team later accompanied them to Surat to verify if the girl was their kin.

It was disclosed that she was a runaway from home who boarded a train here not knowing its destination. The train took her to Gujarat where she was handed over to NSG. On account of her tender age, unclear memory and language problem, her address could not be verified properly all these years.
