Responding to a report published in these columns, the district administration has arranged the clearance of garbage, removal of bushes and catching of snakes on the hospital premises. About 50 sanitation workers were deployed to execute the “Swachh hospital” work on a war-footing.
Officials of the Chittoor Municipal Corporation’s health wing and the Forest Department arrived on the hospital premises and initiated the clean drive. The workers removed the bushes and thorns, plastic waste in and around the in-patient wards and arranged dustbins. Toilets at the wards were kept tidy, and potholes filled with stagnant water were levelled with sand. The Health Department’s dog-catchers team did its part on the compound. The officials brought two snake catchers, who sieved each and every gap in the male general ward, the point from where about the presence of two dozen snakes was reported during the last one week. Cement patches were arranged at the gaps and crevices at the corners.
Resident Medical Officer Dr Sandhya Rani supervised the works.
