April 08, 2015 02:03 pm | Updated 02:03 pm IST - VIZIANAGARAM:

Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has sanctioned Rs.84.12 crore for widening of NH-43 (now NH-26) into four lanes from Rajapulova to Chelluru (11.6 km) following recommendation of Union Civil Aviation Minister P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju, according to a press release.

Mr. Ashok reportedly rejected a proposal of the NHAI for setting up a toll gate on this route as it would cause “inconvenience to people.”

In addition to NH-26 widening, Mr. Ashok got funds sanctioned for a by-pass road from Chelluru to Gotlam (17.5 km). About Rs. 230 crore was allocated in the Budget 2015-16 for the road.

He also got approval of Road Transport Minister Gadkari for an approach road to Manapuram Road Over Bridge at a cost of Rs.40 crore, the long-pending Salur by-pass road and approaches to ROB at Sitanagaram.

The 5.92-km Salur by-pass road would cost Rs.40.1 crore, including Rs.9.1 crore for land acquisition and Rs.15.40 crore for approach roads to ROB at Sitanagaram, the release added.
