Five persons including the driver were injured when the private jeep in which they were travelling met with an accident on the first ghat road leading to Tirupati. Initial reports said the mishap took place at the twenty second curve on the ghat road when the speeding vehicle hit the road side railings and fell into a ten feet deep gorge and capsized.

The devotees motoring down in other vehicles informed the police about the accident who immediately reached the spot and rushed all the injured to the TTD’s SVIMS super speciality hospital.

While the condition of all the four pilgrims who hailed from Kotthuru thanda in Khammam is said to be stable, the condition of the driver is stated as slightly critical.

In all, there were eight members on board the vehicle when the accident took place.
