The leakage of gas from the new well of the State owned Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) at Chinapandraka village of Kruthivennu village in Krishna district has been plugged by experts on Monday morning, Krishna District Collector Babu. A told The Hindu .

Speaking to The Hindu , Mr. Babu said that the gas was going out from the ‘Gas escaping equipment’ installed at the well as its pressure became uncontrollable when the depth of the well has reached to nearly 3,800 meters from the ground level. “It is neither leakage nor explosion. The quantity of gas escaped from the equipment is higher than the estimated quantity. The ONGC has dug up a new well 3,800 meters deep from the ground level where the gas became uncontrollable”, said Mr. Babu.

“Officials are engaged in enumeration of crop damage and the ONGC is asked to adopt the Chinapandraka village. The digging up activity at the site is stopped temporarily,” the Collector said.
