Electrical safety certification process made easy

June 13, 2016 12:00 am | Updated October 18, 2016 02:44 pm IST - Tirupati:

Getting power connection for industries and high-rise buildings is now easy, as the State government has relaxed the norms associated with the process of securing electrical safety certification.

Buildings above 15 metres in height and industrial units requiring more than 50 HP of power are hitherto required to get safety clearance from Chief Electrical Inspector based at Kurnool, basing on which the Electricity Department provides power connection. However, the GO issued by the Ministry of Energy, Infrastructure and Investment on Friday requires the owners of buildings seeking load of up to 11 kilovolts and industrial units requiring above 50 HP of power to present a self-declaration or take the help of a chartered electrical safety engineer to get power connection.
