Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association on Tuesday made it clear that it was not possible for the builders to continue construction activity if the government did not take steps to reduce cement and sand prices. The CREDAI delegation, led by its Srikakulam chapter chairman Gurugubelli Raju, met Collector Paturi Lakshmi Narasimham on Tuesday at his camp office and explained their grievances.
Mr. Raju said that the cement companies jacked up the prices and fixed cost of each bag at Rs.350 as against the price of Rs.250 last year. He has also expressed concern over the steep hike in sand prices. “A tractor-load of sand was available at Rs.2,000 previously but the same quantity is priced at Rs.5, 000,” he added.
The Collector assured to look into the grievances saying that construction industry was important to spur economic activity.
CREDAI members Ramakrishna, Eswara Rao thanked him.
