‘The party will highlight the special package announced for Seemandhra in the election manifesto’

The Pradesh Congress Committee president, Botcha Satyanarayana, has said that the first list of Congress MPs from the State is likely to be released before March 15.

In an informal chat with reporters here on Sunday, after the review meeting with PCC in-charges for municipal elections, he said the central leadership was sure to release the list before that date.

“It is not clear whether the list will cover all the 42 constituencies or not,” he said.

Mr. Satyanarayana said the list of Assembly candidates would take some more time.

Maximum tickets for weaker sections

He said the party would highlight the special package announced for Seemandhra region in the election manifesto for the region while the Telangana manifesto would focus on the all-round development of the new State.

Mr. Satyanarayana said the party would prove the sceptics wrong by allotting maximum number of tickets to the weaker sections and the backward classes.

Earlier in the meeting, the PCC chief asked the local former MPs, Ministers and elected representatives besides the DCC chiefs to select the candidates for the municipal elections.

He said if there was lack of unanimity on the candidates, the PCC would take the final call.
