District Collector Ch. Vijayamohan told irrigation officials on Thursday to submit detailed plans and designs on bathing ghats to be built in Kurnool district for Krishna Pushkaram slated from August 12, basing on the water levels in Srisailam reservoir.

One bathing ghat platform would be built if the water level in Srisailam reservoir was presumed to be 885 feet and 10 platforms at a level of 840 feet, the Collector said. Mr. Vijayamohan inspected the pushakaram ghats at Nehrunagar in Pagidyala mandal, Kapileswaram in Kothapalle mandal and Sangameswaram in Atmakur mandal.

He directed tahsildars concerned to identify about 100 to 200 acres of land along the banks of the Krishna river for constructing cloak rooms, rest rooms and toilets and parking lots. Platforms should be built to accommodate “pinda pradanam” by 300 persons at once. The location of changing rooms would be decided a month in advance basing on the water flow in the river. Additional SP T. Chandrasekhar Reddy, Kadapa RDO Raghu Babu and irrigation engineers participated.
