During his surprise visit to the Sri Venkateswara Ramnarain Ruia Government General Hospital here on Tuesday, Collector P.S. Pradyumna announced a slew of facilities for its improvement.

The facilities include CCTV cameras, labour rooms, drugs, food supply, security personnel, required software and 24-hour lab facility, for which he instructed Superintendent Siddha Naik to call for tenders immediately.

In his capacity as the Chairman of the Hospital Development Committee, Mr. Pradyumna held marathon review meetings and made surprise visits at the Ruia and the Government Maternity Hospital, where he gave in principle sanction of ₹4 crore.

The facilities include amenities for nursing staff, three X-ray machines for the Anaesthesia Department, additional ventilators for the Orthopaedic Department, besides air-conditioning in the orthopaedic wards. The bills pertaining to the sanitary contract agencies would be paid through the development committee. He enquired with staff nurse Vijayalakshmi on replacement of bedsheets in seven colours on seven days, under the 'Indra Dhanussu' scheme.

Interacts with patients

Upon interacting with several patients who were admitted with a variety of complaints, he directed the medical staff to provide utmost care to the patients to restore the people's faith in the State-funded medical system.

Speaking to the media later, he announced that the hospital, considered a 'jewel in the crown of Rayalaseema', would be developed on a top priority, in tune with the Chief Minister's directions to improve medical care. SV Medical College Principal N.V. Ramanaiah and other officials were present.
