Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has stipulated a nine-point programme for achieving sustainability in the power sector ahead of the two-day Power Ministers’ national conference to be addressed by Union Minister Piyush Goyal.

While appreciating the crossing of many milestones by the public sector power utilities, Mr. Naidu sought the best practices to be continued to maintain leadership position across the operational and financial parameters.

According to an official release issued here on Sunday, the Chief Minister wanted focus to be laid on scientific load forecasting to meet the demand under all circumstances in view of its exponential growth and to collaborate with a reputed knowledge partner for further improving efficiencies.

T&D losses

The other points are to increase the Plant Load Factor (PLF) of generating stations by maintaining fuel security with cost-effective indigenous coal along with third party coal sampling, fast-track all transmission projects by building substations at strategic locations and all industrial clusters, reduce T&D (transmission and distribution) losses to less than 6 %, harness the full potential of renewable energy and complete the targeted green energy capacity creation of 15000 MW by 2019.

To maintain energy efficiency momentum by distributing energy-efficient fans and LED lights, LED street lighting in all villages, energy-efficient agricultural pumps and strictly complying with energy efficiency measures in industries, avail maximum benefits under UDAY scheme, adopt a special mechanism for tapping sizeable funds from Central Government-sponsored distribution schemes like Deendayal Upadhyaya Grameena Jyothi Yojana and Integrated Power Development Scheme and continue the best consumer services by utilizing latest technologies.
