The Crime Investigation Department of police is corresponding with the Central Bureau of Investigation over the omission of provisional arrest warrant against Rajya Sabha member K.V.P. Ramachandra Rao in the wake of the red corner notice issued by the Interpol.
Director General of Police B. Prasada Rao told media persons today that the CBI had not enclosed the warrant while forwarding the Interpol red corner notice issued at the request of Federal Bureau of Investigation in the titanium mining case against Mr. Rao.
Answering questions, the DGP said there was no need of hurry in the case as Mr. Rao was an MP and he was always available. On the progress of works related to bifurcation of police administration, he said the process of positioning files and movable assets in the two States was going onHe said the police had seized Rs. 120 crore during checking of vehicles for possible expenditure in elections. Half the amount was released to owners after verification of documents but about 40 per cent was deposited with the Income-Tax department . Mr. Rao felt there might be a couple of action teams of the CPI (Maoist) to target high profile leaders during electioneering. The police were taking steps for their security by giving suggestions to leaders.
