Cabinet asks BC panel to expedite work

The State Cabinet on Tuesday urged the Justice Manjunatha Commission to expedite the process and submit the report at the earliest, said Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Minister Kalava Srinivasulu. The report of the Commission, constituted by the government, to go into the issue of the inclusion of the Kapus in the BC reservations list is likely to be delayed since the caste-wise data has not yet been put together.

The government gave eight months to the Commission to submit report when it was constituted in 2016.

Padayatra

It assumes significance in the wake of Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham’s plan to conduct a padayatra to mount pressure on the State government to implement the poll promise on reservations. The Kapu leader hasn’t applied for permission for the padayatra so far though Deputy Chief Minister N. Chinarajappa has been urging him to do so.
