The Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, on Thursday cancelled the June 25 examination conducted across the country for recruitment to the posts of 302 Management Trainees and Junior Medical Officers following bloomers spotted in the question papers.

The decision was taken following deliberations with the HR and other senior officials of the company by CMD P. Madhusudan.

“In view of discrepancies found in the question papers of various disciplines/posts in the written test, it was decided to conduct the test again,” a notice issued by the RINL stated in the evening.

The new date for the examination will be announced later. Earlier in the day, RINL officials discussed the fallout of the discrepancies in the question papers and whether to cancel the entire examination or hold the test again only for those candidates who received the faulty question papers.

Admit cards

“Information such as date of re-examination and download of admit cards shall be uploaded at the ‘careers’ icon of www.vizagsteel.com website. In view of this, eligible candidates are advised to visit our website at regular intervals,” the notice stated.

Several people vented their anger over the bloomers in the prestigious examination on the social media.

In all, 71,893 candidates out of 98,971 applicants (72.64%) had written the test held at Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Kolkata, Chennai, and Mumbai. Stating that this was the fifth time the management had cancelled the test for various posts, Visakha Steel Employees’ Union honorary president Padi Trinadha Rao said the management should take action not only against the agency but also the ‘insiders’ responsible for the goof-up.
