Stating that the bifurcation dealt a blow to 6 crore people, YSR Congress leader Y.S. Sharmila held both TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu and former chief minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy responsible for the injustice that was meted out to the people of Seemandhra region.
On the first day of her electioneering at Atmakur in Nellore district here on Monday, Ms. Sharmila asserted that it was only YSRC president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy who made sincere efforts to stop the bifurcation process. “Had Kiran Kumar Reddy resigned the day the division proposal came up, the Centre would have been forced to stop it. He allowed injustice to be done to Seemandhra people,” she said.
Ms. Sharmila criticised Mr. Chandrababu Naidu for not taking back his letter which was given in support of the creation of a separate state of Telangana and it was unfortunate that the TDP chief did not bother to come to the people’s rescue even when the situation was slipping out of hand. Stating that YSR’s regime stood for overall welfare of the people, Ms. Sharmila said that after his death, the State had plunged into prolonged crisis where the people were subjected to all sorts of injustice and suffering. She asserted that only Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy could provide an honest and responsive governance to the people as he always stood for credibility and commitment.
Ms. Sharmila was accompanied by MP Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy and Atmakur party coordinator Mekapati Gautham Reddy.
