Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu could not make it to the Republic Day celebrations at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation (IGMC) stadium here as he was stuck at Abu Dhabi on his return from Davos in Switzerland.

The flight which he was to catch got delayed as the airport was under a thick cover of fog that prevented the planes from taking off. He is expected to reach Vijayawada around 4 p.m., about nine hours behind schedule.

In Mr. Naidu’s absence, his wife Bhuvaneswari hoisted the National Flag at the CM’s residence in the presence of people’s representatives and officials of various departments and proceeded to take part in the celebrations at the IGMC stadium. However, Governor of AP and Telangana, E.S.L. Narasimhan took part in the RD celebrations in Vijayawada.

Mr. Naidu was originally scheduled to reach Vijayawada at 7 a.m.
